This Thursday 26th at 18-21 hours, Tuisku Virkki opens up her exhibition with $WaGGBERRy club preview. Hosts of the evening will be lovely girl dj duo Nsty a$$ wannabes who play hiphop, r'n'b, bass & hustling!

Tuisku Virkki is a young autodidact graphic artist who`s been hobbying drawing since early age. Using unique technique, blending and mixing with different kind of marker pens, she has made the most vividly surreal and beautiful drawings, usually based around a central figure, showing her confident command of anatomy and facial structure, as well as light and shade. Drawings can then go in any direction at all, welding together a dark tone with bright, psychedelic pop culture references that a reminiscientt of seventies comic book artists like Jean Giraud. The finished product is trippy and usually quite twisted; but thats where her true skill lies, that ability to combine together some things that are truly disturbing and stunningly beautiful while creating a mixture of sinister and picturesque tones fuzed with skill and imagination.

After 21.00 evening will be continued with Anna's Groove.

Dj Anna S plays global sounds, from jazz to afro and Latin grooves this Thursday 21-02.

Dj Anna S has her music roots in are in Latin dancing, which she started at the age of 10. Through that she learned about rhythms and the connection between music and dance.
In her teens she got hooked up to hip hop. Like most dj's, exploring the samples and loops, took her towards funk, soul and jazz. Gilles Peterson's radio show was a big inspiration as well.
In the beginning of the 90s Anna S got reached out to house and techno. She finally began spinning records in 1997 in Jump'Inn, Blue Room, Soda.

Trip to New York in 2000 got her inspired to work in professional level. She began Breakin' Boudaries radio show at Radio Helsinki introducing broken beat, soulful house, jazz and dancehall. In the same year she co-founded Club Bundolo at Mocambo that kept her busy for next 4 years. Bundolo also provided important stage for soul/funk/jazz bands in Finland. Anna S participated Red Bull Music Academy in 2002, in Sao Paulo, Brasil. Back to New York in 2004 opened her ears to Arabic music and afrobeat. These influences has maintained throughout these years. She's a versatile dj, that creates the soundscape connecting rhythms and grooves around the world.

This week Spectral Wednesday presents poetic & futuristic sounds from the Helsinki undergroud, Dxxxa D & Hzzzt Live, hosted by Telluksen Seireenit djs Tytti & Megatron.

Dxxxa is one of the great seniors of finnish rap-music. In 2011 he released two albums (by Helmi records) - and now you can experience the ensemble from one of those on a Spectral Wednesday at mbar, when Dxxxa confronts his musical wresling partner Hzzzt in an unique and rare live performance. The art of storytelling, real life poetry, dark electronic beats, metaphysical epiphany and a sinister laugh – all come together.

Spectral Wednesday is an early evening club, hosted by Telluksen Seireenit (Bassoradio). The evening combines live djing with lively visuals from animation to film remix production. This week we also enjoy live music and performance. Spectral Wednesdays is an evening of electronic music and friendly athmosphere.

Stand up comedians are trying out their new material in the (FREE) Läpällä! stand up club every Monday at mbar.

This will be the club where you will be the first to hear the bits that comedians take on stage. Also, you'll hear some stuff that won't ever see the light of day anymore.

Most of the comedians are doing their material in Finnish, some in English.

Six comedians, a hour and a half, zero euros. Come laugh with us!
